What to see and do at Montevue

Each uniquely situated and decorated luxury unit on our farm has its own distinct personality. Each unit is far enough from each other, and out of each other’s views, so that you feel totally secluded, but yet are less than 15 mins from town. For campers, we have a unique wild camping site, where you are as close to nature as possible.
Wild Game, Animals & Karoo Flora
Montevue is the home of many interesting and unique Karoo plant species. We now have a herd of wild Springbok that you can come close to. On game drives guests have also spotted animals like Kudu, Duiker, Mountain Reedbuck and others. You might even be lucky to see the sly Black Backed jackal, aardvark and signs of cat species.
Hiking & Exploring
Come and hike through our 1050ha karoo property, through mountains, hills, rivers and veld. There are 12km of trails, or go off the path on game trails, and explore more secluded parts of the farm. A must do is our Rope Way up Widow’s Plateau, for the highest point on Montevue, with spectacular views.
Mountain Biking
Grab your mountain bike and explore the property via the 12km+ of jeep track, some easy, some more challenging over all types of terrain for all skill levels.

The Klein Karoo is the perfect place for star gazing! Come and enjoy open dark skies, from our deck, or from the hot tubs! At Cabine Des Anges wood cabin, we usually leave our telescope for guests to use.

1. Is it safe on the farm?
We feel very safe on the farm, but want you to feel comfortable and safe, therefor we have implemented a few measures to make it safer for guests – Our Farm Manager, Phillipus and other worker lives on the property, just a short distance away from the guest accommodation and is available at all times via Radio from our houses, and they also have phone and internet signal at their home if you need to reach them in an emergency.
We also have some security cameras on the property that we can monitor online, as well as motion detectors and alarms. We also have motion alarms at our guest accommodation that you can activate and it also has panic buttons connected to our armed response security company. We are proudly backed and protected by Boland Risk Solutions, the local security and armed response company of Montagu. They can respond and be at the farm within minutes. Alternatively, we are in close contact with our neighbors across the road, who are also just a quick phone or walking distance away. That said, please note that if you enter Montevue, you do so completely at your own risk, as per our terms and conditions.
2. Are we supervised on the farm and are the owners available?
The owners of the farm are not always on the property, but we always have supervisor present on the farm at all times. Our farm manager, Phillipus, and other workers, who are trained and capable, are on the property and drive through the farm multiple times daily to make sure everything is okay and safe. The owners are always just a quick phone call or message away if you need them.
3. Are there fire safety procedures and measures in place?
We take fire safety very seriously and implore you to also take it very seriously, so always be very careful. We have lots of warnings in our houses to remind you of the exact method and places where you are allowed to make fires. No big open fires are allowed and no fires outside of the designated, safely built braai places. All houses are fitted with smoke detectors, and fire extinguishers, with instructions on how to use them.
