You can explore the almost untouched 1000ha property, with all its ravines, valleys, dams, breathtaking view points, and all it has to offer, at your own pace. You can swim, row, hike, do 15km of 4×4 routes, view endemic game, MTB, and do the rope way to the top of the mountain. There is lots to see and do at Montevue and is a “must try” for all true nature lovers looking for wild camping in the Western Cape of South Africa. Its just 20 minutes from Montagu, 2.5hrs from Cape Town. (Close to Route 62)
UPDATE: We now have a composting toilet at the camp site, as well as a small water tank with some extra water for washing. (Note that water tank might not always have water. You can get extra water from our borehole outlet at Kaalbas dam, just a short drive away from your camp site, on our property.)

RATES AND TERMS:
– R400 per night (Includes 4 people. R100 per person extra per night) – MAX 12 People
– Only one group of family/friends campers allowed at any given time, to insure exclusivity.
– R1000 refundable litter/damages deposit secures booking.
– The camping spot accommodates a maximum of 3 vehicles, and 3 tents/caravans/trailers. (Max 12 people)
– We recommend 4×4 Vehicles and offroad caravans or trailers only, to reach the camp spot. (Watch this video to see the condition of the roads)
– No Pets or firearms, sorry.
– Leave the spot exactly as you found it. You will be fined up to R1000 for any trash, damage to veld, litter, human waste, or anything found out of place.
– FIRES – Bring your own fire extinquisher. You are only allowed to make fire in the designated area at the camp or in your own enclosed braai. Make fires away from any bushes or grass. Do not make any open fires when its windy. Rather use charcoal or a weber. If a veld fire occurs because of your actions, you will be liable to all damages that we and the veld suffers because of this.
PLEASE NOTE – “Verbyry Dam” Spot was an old farm pond, with a nice round flat area, on the northern, most untouched part of Montevue. See video above. It is surrounded by bushes and trees for privacy and some protection against wind and sun. It still gives nice nature and mountain views. The rivers/ravines are mostly dry, but our “Kaalbas dam” has some water and is a short drive away from your camp. Enquire about the water level if you want to bring a kajak. You can also braai and picnic at this dam. (You will get a map with the camping spot, all the points of interest, and directions to it.)
Remember – This is 100% off grid. There is no phone signal or electricity or running water at the camp site. (Only a very basic Compost Toilet and a Water Tank which might have some water for washing.) You need to bring whatever you need to be self sufficient ie. Drinking Water, Outdoor Shower, Braai, trash bags etc. Bring a fire extinquisher! Remember to leave the spot as you have found it. You need to take everything back with you including your trash. No pooping or emptying the toilet bucket anywhere on the property. Littering and human waste or damage to the veld will be fined. Be very careful with open flames. You will be responsible for any damages due to fire.)
