Luxurious three-story wooden mountain cabin with large stacking doors and glass windows with breathtaking 360 valley and mountain views. It has a large deck at the front with deck chairs and patio set, to relax for sun downers, and at the rear a a beautiful deck and outdoor Braai (BBQ) area to socialize. In the inside modern open plan living area, you will also find an indoor braai/fireplace for cozy, colder evenings. On the outside deck you can relax in a luxurious wood-fired hot tub, that doubles as a splash pool in the summer, overlooking the valley. The house has everything you need to have an amazing time rain or shine!

This unit sleeps a total of 10 people. (Max 6 adults):

– The loft area has 2 Double Beds, perfect for a family with kids, and a full bathroom with bath overlooking the mountains.

-The separate downstairs flatlet (access from outside the house) contains 1 double bed, and 1 pull out couch, perfect for a small family.  The flatlet also has a full bathroom with a shower.

-The large open plan living room and kitchen feels spacious and luxurious, and is well equipped. There is 1 extra pull out couch that sleeps 2 extra people or children.

-There is also an Outside Shower and Outside Toilet (Loo with a view!) for the adventurous.

This eco-friendly house is 100% off grid, with borehole water (bring fresh water yourself), hot water from a gas geyser, and electricity from solar power. There is NO phone or internet signal at the house. There is a gas oven and stove and microwave for all cooking needs, electric plugs to charge phones or use other small appliances. (No appliances with elements like hair dryers etc.) You will also find a Smart TV with a USB full of pre-loaded movies, or you can cast downloaded content from your phone. (unfortunately no DSTV or other live channels). We believe that living without wi-fi and phone signal is medicine for the soul.

(For phone signal you can walk up (or drive up if you have 4×4) a few hundred meters behind the house up the mountain “Signal Hill” where there is good signal, or just 5 minutes’ drive toward Montagu on the main road.) 

The house also has other things to keep you busy like a small collection of books, cards and board games, a bow and arrows, a slingshot, and some toys for children.  We usually also have our Telescope there, for you to view the moon, planets or stars or look for game. (All used at own risk. Damages or losses to our property will be for your charge.)

Gravel road condition:  The gravel road between farm gate and accommodation is usually in fair condition, but it could vary due to the weather/rain. (Contact us before you leave if not sure). It will always be accessible for all types of cars, but smaller non 4×4 cars might sometimes struggle to reach the last 20m of uphill gravel road to the house. In this case, you can simply park at the designated covered parking area, 20m underneath the cabin.

Rates and terms:

• WEEKDAYS (Mon-Thu) = R3200 per night for entire house. (Sleeps up to 6 adults and up to 4 extra children.)
• WEEKENDS (Fri-Sun) = R3700 per night for entire house. (Sleeps up to 6 adults and up to 4 extra children.)
• R400 Laundry fee
• R1000 refundable breakage deposit secures booking (Deposit will be returned within 72hrs of checkout, after inspection.)

• Enjoy access to entire 1050ha farm and farm roads to self drive, game view, hike, picnic, dams to swim, 4×4 or mountain bike. (Ask for map of farm and all its points of interest.)
• Everything of the unit, as mentioned above.
• Fully equipped Kitchen, with gas stove, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, all cutlery and crockery, braai, grid, potjie, and braai tools and sunlight liquid for washing dishes.
• Coffee (both instant and ground), Sugar, Tea, Salt, Pepper, Olive Oil, and BBQ Spice. (Coffee plunger also available)
• Montevue Body Wash, Conditioning Shampoo, Hand Wash, Hand and Body Lotion, Bubble Bath
• Bluetooth SPEAKER. (Remember to download your favorite music to your phone/USB before leaving on your trip.)
• TV (Smart TV with attached USB full of downloaded movies. You can also cast content from your phone. NO LIVE CHANNELS OR DSTV unfortunately)
• Clean bedding and towels.

What you need to bring:

• Fresh drinking water (only borehole water in taps on farm, which is fairly safe to drink, but not very tasty.)
• Wood or charcoal and firelighters (Be careful with fires outside when its Windy. No unattended fires. Only fires in designated areas.)
• Food and drinks and Ice. (can be bought at Montagu, less than 15 minutes from the farm.)
• All your preferred personal hygiene products
• Everything else you can think of that you would need at a self catering unit. (Ask if not sure.)
• If you have – your 4×4 vehicle, mountain bike, hiking shoes and clothes will add value to your experience at Montevue. (You dont need a 4×4 to access the accommodation, but the other scenic routes require a 4×4 vehicle or MTB. Or you can just hike it!)
